On September 23, 2021 Officer Jones was arrested at his home. On July 7, 2021 all the charges against Officer Jones were dismissed however, during his arrest the Police Department located Officer Jones's department issued weapon, unsecured on the bed in the kids room unloaded with 15 rounds (hollow point) magazine and a round which was assumed to be racked out of the chamber. Officer Jones failed to exercise caution in handling his firearm off duty, by not storing his weapon in an authorized , secure location and in a safe condition. As a result of the policy violation he received a 7 day suspension.
