Around 1:35 a.m., two Mantua police officers went to an Elm Avenue home in response to a 911 call. During an encounter outside the house, one police officer shot and killed Charles Sharp. Details as to what precipitated the killing were withheld by police. Police said a .45-caliber handgun was recovered near the man.
