Patricia Trammell was hit by a speeding and stolen Lexus as she was crossing Broad Street in Newark near police headquarters and City Hall. The police said that the Lexus was going about 100 miles per hour when it struck her and that it was being pursued by officers who saw the driver trying to burglarize a vehicle. Ali Carney, 23, was charged with murder.
