On November 23, 2023, Division of Criminal Justice Detective Ronald Allen was stopped by the South Plainfield Police Department while operating a State vehicle off-duty. He was charged with N.J.S.A. 39:4-96, Reckless driving; N.J.S.A. 39:4-50, Driving While Intoxicated; N.J.S.A. 39:4-51 B, Open Alcohol Container in a Motor Vehicle; and 39:4-51A, Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle. Detective Allen pleaded guilty to Driving While Intoxicated in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-50 on or about May 22, 2024. Detective Allen was suspended without pay for approximately 11 months. He separated from the Division of Criminal Justice in 2024.
