On January 5,2021 Internal Affairs investigation was opened against Capt. T. Grillo for (Failure to Follow a Lawful Order use only a fully equipped Marked Patrol Unit during regular tour of duty, officer repeatedly used less equipped side detail vehicle while on duty) verified by GPS and/or department security cameras. Investigation uncovered other department violations involving several counts of (Failure to report to duty, AWOL, leaving post for extended period of time) verified by GPS and/or department security cameras, Untruthfulness (reporting to desk officer to be a specific location and not responding there) verified by GPS and/or department security cameras, Misuse of Department Vehicle (using department vehicle to conduct personal business) verified by GPS and/or department security cameras, (making false oral and written statements regarding officers work vouchers, location and duty hours: officers are required to be truthful at all times) verified by department phone recordings, GPS and/or department security cameras and Falsification of Records (reporting on pay vouchers more hours than actually worked on post) verified by GPS. A total of 39 charges were filed against Capt Grillo. 38 were sustained by hearing officer. Capt Grillo was demoted 3 ranks, 60 day suspension and monetary fine. No appeal was filed.
