On November 19, 2023, while off-duty, Officer Jonathan Librizzi committed the act of Criminal Mischief by knowingly damaging tangible property of another, specifically by striking the screen of a drive through ATM machine, causing damages. Officer Librizzi did not immediately contact the Garfield Police Department nor the Police Department in the jurisidiciton where the damages were caused to advise either department of the incident. The incident was brought to the attention of the Garfield Police Department on November 27, 2023 by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit. On December 5, 2023 Officer Librizzi was charged with 2C:17-3A (1), Criminal Mischief, in the Fourth Degree. The charge was later dismissed in Municipal Court.
