On September 5th, 2024, while off-duty, Officer Lukasz Chmielewski was involved in a traffic incident within the City of Garfield while utilizing his personal vehicle. During the incident, Officer Chmielewski committed multiple Title 39 motor vehicle violations and placed himself and others in danger while driving in a dangerous manner. Officer Chmielewski failed to report the incident to the Garfield Police Department nor did he call 9-1-1. Officer Chmielewski also failed to notify a supervisor within the Garfield Police Department of his involvement in the incident.
