Synopsis as reported by the agency
On 7/18/25, while assigned as the supervising Senior Correctional Police Officer (SCPO) of Bayside State Prison (BSP) Highway Detail #136, SCPO Paul Ricci was approached by a former incarcerated person during detail on Route 55. SCPO Ricci did not report this interaction. The Special Investigation Division (SID) received the Global Positioning System (GPS) of the vehicle assigned to BSP Highway Detail #136. The GPS records showed that the vehicle was at 261 East Point Road, Maurice River (East Point Lighthouse) on six occasions and this location was not in the logbook and not part of the deployment records. During the SID investigation, SCPO Ricci stated that he transported the incarcerated persons to the East Point Lighthouse to show them the difference between an osprey and an eagle. SCPO Ricci signed a settlement agreement for a 90-day suspension on 9/29/25.
