Synopsis as reported by the agency

On 12/17/24, New Jersey State Prison’s Senior Correctional Police Officer (SCPO) Jasmine Ellington was insubordinate toward a Correctional Police Sergeant (CPS). She refused an order to return to her post when ordered to do so and instead stated that she was on a break at the wellness mobile food truck and that her shift ended at 1:00 p.m. Additionally, SCPO Ellington stated she went on break at 12:30 p.m. and her shift ended at 1:00 p.m.; however, SCPO Ellington turned in all her equipment prior to her leaving for her break at 12:30 p.m. She failed to gain the proper authorization to leave the secure perimeter and make the proper notifications that she was leaving. SCPO Ellington was issued a Final Notice of Disciplinary Action on 4/11/25, for a 10-day suspension.
