An investigation revealed in June 2023, Officer Devecchio left his duty belt containing his department issued handgun that was loaded inside of his personal vehicle over multiple nights. Officer Devecchio's negligent actions resulted in his loaded, department issued firearm and his privately-owned firearm, which was loaded, being taken from his vehicle. Officer Devecchio noticed his vehicle was broken into and that the firearms were missing but failed to make immediate notification to the agency. Additionally, another investigation revealed Officer Devecchio violated the sick leave policy. Officer Devecchio utilized unexcused sick days and also a pattern of or absences before other benefit days off. Discipline was merged for the two investigations; Officer Devecchio received a 6 day fine.
