On November 6, 2022, at about 0600 hours, off-duty Linden Police Officer Carlos Ralda was involved in a hit and run motor vehicle accident in Linden, NJ. An internal investigation proved that Ralda was the driver at the time of the crash. Ralda admitted to crashing his personal vehicle and leaving the scene without reporting the incident to police. He also admitted to ignoring several calls and home visits by Department supervisors to check his welfare. Ralda did not notify the Department of his whereabouts until the following morning. Ralda resigned while an internal affairs investigation/complaint was pending, and the misconduct ultimately sustained falls within categories that would have resulted in a suspension and termination had the member not separated from the agency.
