On October 8, 2021, Bedminster Police reported that Correctional Police Officer Rios tried to report a person for harassment while repeatedly denying knowing that person, even after police found documentation showing they were married, the Passaic County Sheriffs Office reported. Rios then reported his car stolen, but police found it was registered only to that person, and Rios was untruthful during the investigation interview. He received a 60-day suspension.

On October 8, 2021, Bedminster Police reported Officer Rios attempted to report “D.C.” to the police for harassment but repeatedly denied knowing “D.C.” even after Bedminster Police found documentation showing they were husband and wife. Officer Rios then reported his car as stolen, the Bedminster police searched and found that the car was registered only to "D.C". Officer Rios was untruthful in his interview during the investigation.
