On 6/23/24, New Jersey State Prison’s Senior Correctional Police Officer (SCPO) Ryan Niemiec was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated by a New York State Trooper. SCPO Niemiec was observed unconscious by the side of his vehicle. A breathalyzer test was administered which yielded a .18% Blood Alcohol Content. He received the following citations: Driving while intoxicated-first offense, operating a motor vehicle with.08% of 1% alcohol or more in blood-first offense and aggravated DWI: BAC .18 of 1% or more alcohol in blood-no priors and moving from lane unsafely. SCPO Niemiec pled guilty on 1/13/25 and received a suspended license within the state of New York for 90 days effective 2/2/25. SCPO Niemiec signed a settlement agreement for a 30-day suspension on 11/24/25.
