On 5/16/23, Northern State Prison’s Senior Correctional Police Officer (SCPO) Kevin Coiro was arrested by the Wayne Township Police Department for driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol. At the time of the arrest, SCPO Coiro became aggressive with the responding officers, which was captured on Body Worn Camera. SCPO Coiro repeatedly cursed at the Wayne Township Police officers, laughed at them, called them "rookies," and further failed to cooperate with law enforcement. At the police station, SCPO Coiro refused a breathalyzer. He was also combative and evasive. SCPO Coiro signed a settlement agreement on 2/11/25 for a 60-day suspension.
